Black kyanite was treated by impregnating multiple metallic oxides just like making dichroic glass.  Using lapidary techniques, I shaped this stone then took it to my “dichroic magic guy” for coloration.  Metal formed sterling silver, soldered prongs and riveted bail were custom fabricated to securely hold the kyanite.  A very thin layer of Gel du Soleil (optical grade UV resin of JudiKins,Inc) protects the surface.  Drusy stone treated by vapor deposition form the 20 inch necklace.
